Problem : Dysphasia post stroke following a heart surgery
Mixed type dysphasia with dyscalculia
Treatment : Daily Speech and Language Therapy for 10 days
Before
Verbal in native language but dysfluent with hesitations, possible paraphasic errors and some symptoms of self correction
Slow auditory processing and comprehension-unable to follow two step commands
Word retrieval difficulties
Poor confrontational naming
Slow even with very basic numerical calculations
Able to read and write in mother tongue
After
Improved performance on naming tasks
Better word retrieval
Auditory comprehension at more that 2 step levels
Greater fluency in general and greater ease with which he was able to retrieve and recall information from memory as a result of his comfort with the use of strategies taught.
Improved speed of expression at large
He started writing poetry , his hobby and was better at identifying errors and correcting them. He was discharged with a home plan and recommendation to continue with therapy in his home country.
